Do I need Visa to trip to Korea?
No! U.S. citizens do not need a visa to visit South Korea for up to 90 days for tourism.
-
Can you recommend airline?
I believe KoreanAir is one of best to come Korea! Delta is partner with KoreanAir, so Delta - yes. I heard Hawaiian Air, ana airlines(Japanese) also pretty good. For Budget friendly, Air Premia operate direct flight from LA, SF and NY.
You can always ask/text us before purchase ticket. :D -
Any tips for flight schedule?
If you plan to arriving to Busan, make sure your connecting flight airport is Seoul(Incheon) not Seoul (Gimpo).
Good example:
SFO - Seoul(Incheon) - Busan
Bad example:
SFO - Seoul(Incheon) - Require Airport change Seoul (Incheon to Gimpo)
- Seoul (Gimpo) - Busan
Also, always make sure purchase ticket through Airline website not third parties! -
Is there a dress code for wedding?
Yes or no? We want you to wear whatever feel like you. But if you worry about baseline…suit for mens and semi-formal dress for woman would be great!
I’ve saved some inspiration on Pinterest here if you want to peek the vibes. -
Will I able to use Uber?
Yes, you can use Uber in Korea.
But public transportation is amazing including bus and subways.
You can find yellow/orange taxi quite good price and easy to catch on street too. (No tip culture in Korea!) -
What day arriving would be best?
Korea is a day before US. In America Sunday night, Korea is Monday morning. So you will have flip flop day and night when you arrive. Highly recommend you make it to Busan/Seoul at least 2days early, so you take 1 FULL day of rest before travel around!
-
What will be weather like?
April in Korea will be spring and hopefully cherry blossom! Average high temperature in Seoul and Busan would be 60°F and lows around 45°F.
-
How do I get to Busan?
All US direct flight will take you to Seoul (Incheon Airport).
Option 1: Come to Busan right away – Only KoreanAir will have direct transfer from Incheon(Seoul) to Busan.
When ordering your ticket through KoreanAir, have your destination set as Busan. Just know that you will have a layover at Incheon Airport.
Option 2: Explore Seoul first – You can also arrive Seoul first with any airlines and sightsee there before heading to Busan. Take the Train(KTX) from Seoul Station to Busan. You can purchase ticket in station and every 30min(from 4:30am to 10pm) have train. -
Would you recommend skin care places?
YES. I’m not expert of skin care/ massage places yet which will gather info from Korean friends and will share google doc link over here by early March. But I do know you must shop in Olive young!
-
Where is best place to eat?
THE BEST QUESTION. There are so many great places to eat. I’ve made a doc of one of my favorite restaurant in this link here. For Seoul recommendation, trust your Tiktok reels more than me please. hehe
Also, do not trust review/rate from google map! Best local restaurants always have lowest rate somehow in google, and worst one highest. -
Will Maji be at wedding?
SO SADLY, the venue will not allow dogs. Even though MAJI is our SON.
If you have time, and we find some time - we should have little walk with Maji! -
Do I need some cash?
Yes, most restaurants and shops accept US credit cards. But when you are taking public bus and subways, you will need cash. Street food vendors will also likely only accept cash.
Take off “-000” from the amount to know it’s price in US dollars. 1000 won is about $1. -
Will they understand my English?
Sometimes! Hotel and department stores, totally.
If you ask someone on street where a bathroom is or order a coffee - people would understand you, but probably won’t really answer back. Many chance they will speak back if you ask to younger people! You can also use Google Translate on your phone to interpret a message. -
Does Google Maps work in Korea?
It does work but isn’t as reliable as Korean map apps. I would recommend downloading Naver Map, it’s the best for public transportation, accurate directions, and has more shops and restaurants listed. It should display in english when you download and use it.
